$220 MEGA Millions Jackpot Will be Split Three Ways

Three tickets, including one sold in California, had all six numbers in the Friday night 12-state Mega Millions draw and their owners will split a $225 million jackpot, California Lottery officials announced.

The winning numbers were 9, 16, 24, 40, 43 and the Mega number was 35.

The other tickets with all six numbers were sold in Ohio and Virginia.

There were 21 tickets with five numbers, but without the Mega number. Two each were sold in California and Texas, nine in New York, four in Illinois, three in New Jersey and one in Maryland. All but the ones sold in California are worth $250,000 each.

The value of the one sold in California is expected to be announced Saturday. State law requires major payoffs of California Lottery games be paid on a pari-mutuel basis.

The drawing was the 14th since the last time a ticket with all six numbers was sold. A ticket sold in New York for the March 13 draw had all six numbers and was worth $26 million.

The odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number is 1 in 175,711,536, according to the Mega Millions Web site.

The jackpot for Tuesday's draw will be $12 million.

Besides California, the Mega Millions game is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
