22-Year-Old Father Gunned Down Riding Bike in Brooklyn

Police say a 22-year-old father of a 4-year-old boy was shot and killed by an unknown gunman while riding his bike in Brooklyn's Crown Heights section.

The New York Daily News reports Carlik McClatchie was struck by a hail of gunfire while riding down Albany Avenue near its intersection with Prospect Place around 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the gunman fired 10 shots on the block, striking McClatchie in the stomach. He was pronounced dead at Interfaith Hospital.

Family members gathered at the scene, which they say was littered with shell casings.

McClatchie's mother, 61-year-old iron worker Marjorie McClatchie, says she will raise her grandson.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Police say the killer's motive is unclear at this time.
