2 Women Hurt When Gunfire Rings out in Brooklyn: Police

Shots rang out in Brooklyn Thursday, sending two women to the hospital, police say.

It wasn’t immediately clear what led to the two women being shot around 7 p.m. in Bed-Stuy, but both victims were taken to an area hospital to be treated for their injuries, authorities said. They are both listed in stable condition.

The women were driving in the area of 854 Myrtle Ave. when they were shot, officials said. An 18-year-old woman was shot in the leg, and a 29-year-old woman suffered cuts on her head from flying glass as a result of the gunfire, police said.

The suspect quickly fled the area. Police say a gun was found inside the vehicle the victims were in when they were shot.

Video from the scene shows a Toyota sitting on the side of the road, surrounded by police tape with its back windshield shattered.

No arrests have been made, but detectives are investigating.
