Man Kills Woman, Self in Jersey City; 2nd Woman Hurt: Officials

Police say a man shot and killed a woman during a domestic dispute in a New Jersey street Monday morning and injured a second woman in the process before taking his own life in a nearby park, authorities say.

The woman who died was arguing with her killer in a car at Monitor and Johnson streets in Jersey City at about 7:30 a.m., officials say.

At some point, officials say she ran from the vehicle and tried to get into a stranger's car.

As she tried to get in the woman's car, authorities say the man in the car pulled up and opened fire.

The woman was shot and killed, authorities say, and the woman in the car was hit with shattered glass.

Authorities say that sometime after the killing, the gunman went to Mercer Park and shot himself on a bench near a children's playground.

People living near the first shooting scene described the gunfire.

"I thought they were firecrackers," said Adrian Gonzales.

The identities of the man and woman who were killed haven't been released.
