2 NYC Residents Charged with Heroin Distribution in Vermont

Two New York City residents are facing federal drug dealing charges after authorities say they drove a rental car to a Vermont business to distribute heroin.

Authorities say Shawn Alonso and Tamara Moody drove from LaGuardia Airport to Chittenden County, Vermont.

Authorities stopped the vehicle on Saturday. They say a large package of powder that fell out of Alonso's pants field-tested positive for heroin.

Attorneys for Alonso and Moody couldn't immediately be reached.

WCAX-TV reports an estimated $375,000 to $500,000 of heroin was seized.

Authorities say Alonso and Moody were supplying heroin to Darrick Holmes, the owner of a Colchester painting company.

Holmes was also arrested. Democratic state Sen. Dick Mazza says he was Holmes' landlord, but wasn't aware of any suspicious activity.

Holmes' attorney Mark Kaplan declined comment.
