Two people have died in a crash after a police chase on Interstate 78.
New Jersey State Police say troopers attempted to stop a Honda that was driving erratically around 8:45 p.m. Saturday in Berkeley Heights Township. The driver fled, and police followed for about 3 miles before the Honda driver lost control and ran off the road.
Two people inside the vehicle died. The police car was not involved in the accident.
Police also say a pedestrian was hit in a separate crash at the same place. The pedestrian and driver were taken to a hospital. Their conditions are unknown. No police were hurt in either incident.
