A woman was killed and two other pedestrians, including a toddler, were hurt when a two-car collision at a Queens intersection sent one of the vehicles flying onto the sidewalk, police said.
A 43-year-old woman driving an SUV went through a red light at Atlantic Avenue and 108th Street in Richmond Hill at about 6 p.m., and the SUV was hit by a Kia going northbound on 108th Street, police said.
The crash caused the SUV to mount the sidewalk, where it struck a 2-year-old girl, her 48-year-old mother and a 52-year-old relative, police said.
Witness Miriam Sierra said one of the women tried to push the child out of the path of the car. An officer was nearby and rushed over to help, along with several other bystanders.
Norman Alsaivi said he could see where the car hit one of the women, a sight that left him shaken.
"The older woman had tire marks, a lot of cuts and marks," he said.
The drivers and the three pedestrians were taken to Jamaica Hospital, where the 52-year-old woman, identified as Meena Mahabir of Queens, was pronounced dead.

The toddler was taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical, but stable condition, then transferred to Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Her mother and both drivers are in stable condition, police said.
