A 27-year-old man is in custody after his parents were both stabbed in the face and chest at their Upper West Side home, and his father died, police said.

Bloody scissors were found at the crime scene on Columbus Avenue near 97th Street, where officers were called just before 6 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

NYPD had been called to the home for arguments between the son and parents before, police said.

The 71-year-old father, identified by police sources as Darrington Powe, was unconscious when authorities arrived; he had been stabbed multiple times in the face and chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 56-year-old mother, Alicia Powe, had been stabbed in the chest and is expected to survive.

Charges are pending against the son, Anthony Powe.
