2 Men Robbed, Assaulted Livery Cab Driver in Bronx: NYPD

Police are looking for two men who punched and robbed a livery cab driver in the Bronx after a fare dispute earlier this week.

A 55-year-old livery driver was dropping off a woman in front of 1408 Webster Avenue in the Claremont Village neighborhood Sunday around 1:55 a.m. when the first suspect, a heavyset man wearing a white t-shirt, came up to pay for the fare. He and the driver got in a dispute over the price of the ride and began fighting.

As the livery driver struggled with the first suspect, the second suspect, a bald man wearing a yellow shirt, came up and struck him in the head with an unknown object, police said. The two suspects then took the driver's wallet, which had $100 in it, and ran away with the woman.

The driver was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
