2 Killed in Separate Shootings on Long Island: Police

Two people were killed in separate weekend shootings on Long Island, police said.

Eric Mead, 18, was shot in the head while standing in his front yard in Wyandanch with a group of people, investigators said. It happened at about 1:20 a.m. Sunday. Relatives took him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Earlier in Nassau County, police found 21-year-old Sayvon Marcus Burt, of Freeport, with multiple gunshot wounds to his body in an alley in Roosevelt at about 4:15 p.m. Saturday, investigators said.

There have been no arrests in either shooting.
