2 Injured in Crash at Same NYC Intersection Where Man Was Hurt in Hit-Run on Thanksgiving

What to Know

  • Two cars collided in Queens, hurting two people and sending one of the vehicles onto the sidewalk and into a front yard of a vacant home
  • The two people injured were taken to an area hospital, however, their conditions were not immediately known; nobody on the street was hurt
  • The crash happened at the same Whitestone intersection where a 71-year-old man was hurt by a hit-and-run driver on Thanksgiving night

A collision between two cars in Queens that sent two people to the hospital and a vehicle in a front yard happened at the same intersection where a man was injured Thanksgiving night in a hit-and-run, officials say.

The two people injured in the Thursday night crash at 17th Road and Murray Street in Whitestone were taken to an area hospital, authorities said. Their conditions were not immediately known.

One of the cars ended up on the sidewalk and through a fence before coming to a rest in the front yard of a vacant home that is currently under construction, police said. Nobody on the street was injured.

Neighbors in the area ran outside after hearing the collision because it was so loud and sudden.

“We just heard the two women in the white car yelling and screaming get us out of here,” witness Donna Angenbroich said.

The crash isn’t the first time neighbors in the area have witnessed a wreck. It’s the same intersection where a 71-year-old man was injured when a hit-and-run driver barreled into him on Thanksgiving.

“We’ve been trying so long to get a four-way stop here, a speed bump, something, and they don’t want to do it,” Joe Angenbroich said.

The driver in the hit-and-run in the Thanksgiving crash was later arrested on DUI charges.
