2 Arrested in Deadly Elderly Assault on S.I.

Elderly couple attacked as they entered their home.

Police have arrested two people in connection with the death of a 75-year-old woman who was assaulted along with her husband during a robbery attempt on Staten Island.

Police say 35-year-old Antoine Means and 49-year-old Sharon Montgomery, both of Staten Island, were arrested Tuesday on charges of burglary, robbery and assault.

Information on their lawyers was not immediately available.

Police say Teodilinda Naimo and her 81-year-old husband were attacked on Jan. 23 as they entered their home on Staten Island. Naimo suffered a fractured skull and later died from her injuries.

She and her husband operated a variety store and closed for the evening. Her husband, who is blind, was struck in the head and chest.

Their son heard yelling from his nearby apartment and ran to help them and was also assaulted.
