16-Year-Old Girl Shot to Death in Boerum Hill

The NYPD says a 16-year-old girl was shot to death on a street in Brooklyn.

Police say they responded to a 911 call of a shooting at the intersection of Bond and Warren Streets in Boerum Hill around midnight Wednesday. They found Al-Taya Conyers shot once in the head.

There has been no arrest, but witnesses described a man in a red shirt fleeing the scene.

Conyers was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

One neighbor called her a "good girl." Another told NBC New York she had an "altercation" yesterday leading up to the shooting, but didn't elaborate on the nature of the argument.

Neighbors said the girl was a high school sophomore and lived with one older brother, her mother and her father.

The investigation is ongoing.
