11 US Nobel Wnners' Names Added to NYC Monument

The names of the 11 U.S. recipients of the 2009 Nobel prize have been added to a Manhattan monument that already honors 317 American Nobel Laureates.

The city parks department planned to unveil the new inscriptions Tuesday on the Alfred Nobel Monument at Theodore Roosevelt Park.

The Alfred Nobel Monument was dedicated in 2003 by the Consulate General of Sweden and the parks department.

The prize was founded by Swedish inventor Alfred Nobel. Last year, there were three Nobel prizes in physics, two in chemistry, three in physiology or medicine, two in economics and one for peace -- given to President Barack Obama.
