$10K Reward Offered for Info in Shooting of 6-Year-Old NJ Boy: Mayor

Officials offered a $10,000 reward for information about the shooting of a 6-year-old boy and two men, one of three shootings this weekend in New Jersey's largest city.

All three victims of the Saturday shooting were hospitalized in stable condition, police said.

Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka and Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced the reward late Saturday.

“There is no reason for these individuals to be allowed to remain free," Ambrose said.

They said they had very little information on the suspects or motive in the shooting on Central Avenue and Third Street.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Department's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS.

The investigation ongoing.

On Sunday, 40 to 50 people gathered at the intersection of Central Avenue and 1st Street to protest the gun violence that injured multiple people over the weekend, including the 6-year old boy shot Saturday.

Early Sunday, two women and a man were shot at Mulberry and East Kinney streets, police said. One of the women was in critical condition.

Late Saturday, a man and a woman were shot at Seventh Avenue and Stone Street, police said. Both were treated and released.
