10 People Injured in Bronx Apartment Fire: FDNY

Ten people were injured in a fire at a Bronx apartment building on Sunday night, fire officials said.

The fire broke out shortly before midnight at a building on East 163rd Street in the Morrisania neighborhood.

Dozens of firefighters arrived at the scene to combat the flames. The fire left 10 hurt, nine of whom were taken to area hospitals.

One police officer and two firefighters were among those hurt. They suffered minor injuries, officials said. Six civilians also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

All patients were taken to Jacobi and Lincoln hospitals in the Bronx.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. An investigation is ongoing.
