A car crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer on the Cross Bronx Expressway early Saturday, then struck a guardrail and an SUV, police said. One person died in the crash.
Carlos Pereyra Batista, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene, the NYPD said. His 17-year-old passenger was taken to Jacobi Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition.
He was driving a black sedan southbound near the Bronx River Parkway at a high rate of speed when he came upon stopped traffic and crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer, police said.
Pereyra Batista lost control of his car and struck a guardrail, then hit a white Toyota RAV4, police said.
The drivers of the tractor-trailer and SUV remained at the scene, police said. Neither were injured.
Delays were reported on the Cross Bronx hours later on Saturday morning.
