1 Killed, 3 Wounded in Another Newark Shooting

New Jersey's largest city has been plagued by uptick in violence this summer.

One person was killed and three others were wounded in a drive-by shooting in Newark's West Ward, police say.

Essex County Prosecutor's Office Chief of Detectives Anthony Ambrose told the Star Ledger that Al-Tariq Harris, 21, was shot and killed in front of a convenience store at 14th Avenue and South 18th Street at about 7:15 p.m.

When police arrived, they found four men shot.

The three survivors, ages 19 to 22 were taken to University Hospital. One was released and the other two were in stable condition.

Police did not have a motive for the shooting and could not say if they were related to two shootings on Monday in which one person was killed and 11 others wounded.
