A signal problem at 42nd Street caused massive problems on the No. 1, 2 and 3 subway lines Tuesday evening, slowing and re-routing thousands of people at the tail end of the rush hour.
No. 1 train service was out from 14th Street to 96th Street for more than an hour. There was also no service on the No. 3 train from Chambers Street to 96th Street.
Service resumed by about 8:30 p.m., but with delays.
