A Long Island nanny was caught on a secret videotape drugging an infant to keep her from crying, police said Monday.
Anneliese Brucato of Plainview was arrested after the baby's mother confirmed her suspicions by setting up a hidden surveillance camera on Friday in her Laurel Hollow home, officials said.
Brucato, 48, allegedly fed the four- month-old girl an antihistamine through a dropper to keep her drowsy, police said. The baby is in good health despite being drugged like this four times since Brucato was hired in January, officials said.
After allegedly being caught in the act, Brucato surrendered to police Sunday, authorities said. She was charged with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child and is expected to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday.
