Hey, New Yorkers, What Are Your Resolutions?

Experts offer helpful advice

A new year brings promise, but will you keep yours?

Common are the vows to lose weight and get in shape, and WNBC heard a lot of that on the street and at a local gym Thursday.

"I think weight training -- light training -- and also cardiovascular work are very important," said Giuseppe Ciccolella, a personal trainer at Equinox.

Some may have gained weight in 2008 while others lost money. New priorities for the new year could include trimming your waistline and fattening your wallet.

Others might want to raise the bar with a detox diet for a couple weeks, according to nutrionist Dr. Jeffrey Morrison.

"Part of getting back in shape is eating right," he said. "We need to make sure that we get back onto the good, healthy eating plan that maybe we'd lost over the period between Thanksgiving and New Year's. The best New Year's Resolution is getting back in shape."
