"Todd & I r packing JNU house today," she wrote on her Twitter page Sunday. "Looking thru Piper's kindergarten schoolwork here reminds how quickly X flies; she enters 3rd grd in fall."
Piper is the youngest of Palin's three daughters. They also have two sons.
Palin stunned observers earlier this month when she said she would be stepping down from her post on July 26 -- 18 months shy of her term's end.
The Palins moved into the 2 1/2-story, 12,900-square-foot Federal-style mansion outfitted with a reception hall, library and conservatory in 2007 shortly after she took office. The family split their time between the Juneau mansion and their home in Wasilla.
Erike Fagerstrom, executive residential manager at the governor's mansion, said the Palins will be missed.
"We are sad to see her go," Fagerstrom told the AP. "They are a great family."
The Palins' will return full-time to their 2-story Wasilla home located on several waterfront acres on Lake Lucille.
