Blago to Have “Surprise” Role on Reality Show

Blago may be a reality TV star after all.

Disgraced former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich and his wife will both participate in the NBC reality TV show "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here" this summer in order to pay the bills, they said today.

'"In this terrible economic time, I think it's necessary to work and support my family," Illinois' former first lady and mother of two Patti Blagojevich said on the "Today" show.

"We have to earn a living."

The embattled former governor didn't detail his role on the show, which he said was a "surprise" but applauded his wife for agreeing to go into the Costa Rican jungle in his place after the court banned him from being a contestant.

"She's willing to go into the jungle for her kids," Rod said.

The cash-strapped former politician is unemployed following the his very public fall from grace when he was accused of selling the senate seat vacated by President Barack Obama to the highest bidder.

The show begins June 1.

"There may be some surprises," Blago hinted on the "Today" show.
