    Al Franken, best known for his character Stuart Smalley during his time on 'Saturday Night Live,' is running for U.S. Senate against incumbent Republican Norm Coleman of Minnesota.

    A new campaign ad put out by Republican Minnesota Senator Norm Coleman today attacks Al Franken, the former SNL comic turned political wannabe, with clips from his past.

    It shows Franken ranting and cursing, and even calling himself "mean."

    The message of the ad: "Does  Al Franken have the temperment to be U.S. Senator."
