Paul & Ringo Reunite at Radio City

Concert aimed to raise money to teach kids meditation

“I get by with a little help with my friends …”

The remaining Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, performed that iconic song among others at Radio City Music Hall Saturday night – their first show together in nearly a decade.

Their reunion was a benefit for the David Lynch Foundation to raise money to help teach kids transcendental meditation -- the reflective method they employed at the peak of their careers more than 40 years ago, according to Reuters

The technique, which the band learned in the late 1960s from Indian expert Maharishi Mahesh Yoji, is a means to fight stress – and McCartney said it’ll “rule the world.”

McCartney and Ringo played a medley of their famed songs, including “Let it Be,” “Blackbird,” “Yellow Submarine,” “Boys,” and several heartfelt versions of hits created for the late band members John Lennon and George Harrison.

Their performance was preceded by a host of stars, including Sheryl Crow, Ben Harper and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, among others. McCartney and Starr last played together in London in November 2002.

According to its Web site, the David Lynch Foundation “provides funds for students to learn to meditate through TM teaching centers, hospital-sponsored wellness programs, boys and girls clubs, before- and after-school programs and in schools when invited by the administration.”

More than 100,000 at-risk young people, parents and teachers in 30 countries have earned scholarships to learn transcendental meditation in the last four years, Reuters reported. The Radio City concert hoped to raise enough money to help 1 million more.
