Hallmark has introduced a series of new gay marriage wedding cards and plans to reveal four more designs by the end of the summer -- an addition to the nation's largest greeting card company that comes on the heels of California's legalization of gay marriage.
One card features an illustration of two men holding hands in tuxedos framed by hearts. A second, a cascade of small rainbow hearts with red text that reads: "Two hearts. One promise." A third design feature two over lapping pink hearts with the inscription: "Partners in life and love..."
The cards, which make no mention of marriage or a wedding, can also be used for a commitment ceremony. Last year, the company began offering 'coming out' cards.
"It's our goal to be as relevant as possible to as many people as we can," Hallmark spokeswoman Sarah Gronberg Kolell told the AP.
The number of greeting card companies carrying gay wedding cards is increasing but Hallmark's largest competitor, American Greetings Corp., said it had no such plans.
