Teen Bandits Shoot Three People in Brooklyn

Victims include a 14-year-old girl

Police are hunting for a pair of teenagers wanted for shooting three people in Brooklyn Saturday night, including a 14-year-old girl.

The teens confronted the victims as they walked along Church Avenue near East 48th Street in East Flatbush about 9:40 p.m.

When the victims tried to escape, one of the teens opened fire. The bullets hit the 14-year-old girl as well as two adults who are in their 30s.  Badly hurt, the wounded victims managed to get inside the Universal Resort catering hall, where a baby shower was underway.

Paramedics rushed the victims to Kings County Hospital; their injuries are not life-threatening.

"14-years-old and gets caught up in all of this," said Roy Antoine, a community activist.  "One of the things you have to realize, the innocent get caught in the middle of these things."

Police believe the two suspects are 16 to 18 years old.

Some residents say the neighborhood is getting more dangerous, citing a fatal shooting last November in a nearby Chinese restaurant.

"I don't often go out,' said Florence Dosunmu.  "Once I'm in, I'm indoors."
