Yankees May Have Grass, But Mets Have Demolition Edge

As the stadium showdown enters the off-season homestretch (an early off-season for New York's teams, of course), a crucial update: As we saw last week, the new Yankee Stadium, though missing some seats, could theoretically host some sort of athletic endeavor right now. Folks, we have grass. So what of the Mets? Well, WCBS 880 newsradio's Tom Kaminski did another one of his Citi Field/Shea Stadium flyovers, and as you can see, the team is slightly lagging in terms of field prep at their new ballpark. But when it comes to destroying history, the Metropolitans are ahead. While tours of the old Yankee Stadium continue through the end of the year, Shea Stadium is being picked apart piece-by-piece like ants let loose on a rotting carcass. Check out center field and the old scoreboard. Oh, it hurts!
