On February 27, the 83rd Annual Academy Awards celebration will take place at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, with the Governors Ball immediately following. For the 17th straight year, superchef Wolfgang Puck will keep the A-list happily fed. In this clip, he previews what he's serving.
"The challenge is to get the food out on time and perfectly cooked," says Puck. This year the stars will dine on California salads, smoked salmon on an 'Oscar' shaped flatbread with caviar and creme fraiche, and a special 'Black Swan' veggie risotto paella—made with vegan Natalie Portman in mind. Nearly 2,000 pounds of Dover sole were flown in for the main course, as well as 25 huge black truffles, 40 tins of black caviar, six Serrano hams, 800 pounds of lobster, 60 sides of salmon and 1,200 bottles of Moet & Chandon Champagne.
For the finale, pastry chef Sherry Yard will make a lemon cheesecake and a small chocolate gold statue. "In the past, people put them in their pockets where they'd melt," says Puck. [The Feast]
