She dated Elvis, then took a song of his, re-recorded it and turned it into a hit (Let’s Have a Party). Bob Dylan gave her the name “The Queen of Rockabilly” (she’s also sometimes known as the Queen of Rock ’n Roll, or just plain the Queen of Rock). And now, in her seventies, she gets hunted down by one Jack White, who wants to do an album with her (it’s worked before: He put Loretta Lynn, another late-career, graying-but-far-from-over icon, back into the spotlight with the disc Van Lear Rose). On their resulting collaboration The Party Ain’t Over, out January 25, Jackson covers Amy Winehouse’s bad-girl anthem You Know I’m No Good (as well as Rum and Coca-Cola, made famous by the Andrews Sisters).

We could go on, but you get the idea. Pretty badass.

On the cusp of Tuesday’s album release, Jackson comes to the Music Hall of Williamsburg tomorrow, January 21, with the Third Man House Band and White himself on guitar, for a record-release show (9PM).

The show is sold out, but Nonesuch Records has tickets to give away. To enter to win, email by 10AM Friday morning, specifying the MHoW show (they’re also giving away tickets to shows in LA). Winners will be announced shortly thereafter. [More info at Nonesuch]
