"A day before the City Planning Commission is widely expected to approve the Bloomberg administration’s proposal to revamp Willets Point, city officials unveiled a plan to retrain more than 1,700 of the workers for careers in the hotel industry. The hotel workers’ union will work with the city to establish a program to train the Willets Point workers for careers in food and beverage industries. And it will open its job referral program to help those workers find positions in union hotels across the city.
