What You're Doing Tonight: 1/15

Steve Winwood, StoryCorps live, and hip-hop greats get framed

HIGH LIFE: Bring all your crackly 1980s-love to the waaaaaaaay uptown United Palace Theater, where Steve Winwood will shred his guitar, possibly sport feathery hair, and make you go, "Wow, you're right - that guy from Kings of Leon really does sound like Steve Winwood." 7PM.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER: By now, you've heard about the excellent StoryCorps Project, which captures everyday citizens' tales for posterity. Hear NPR's David Isay read from his collection of the stories, pulled from the more than 10,000 logged across the nation, at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, 6:30PM.

CITIZEN SNOOP: Alexander Melamid is a Russian artist with a wry sense of humor. Opening tonight at Forum Gallery is his show of paintings depicting hip-hop giants like Snoop Dogg in muted settings that recall those somber portraits of Stalin and crew. Brilliant stuff. 5:30PM.
