What You're Doing Tonight: 11/25

Art in slo-mo, ballet's big night, and an R&B star in the making

GOOD POINTE: Get all highbrow at the Opening Night Gala for the New York City Ballet's winter season, as dancers twirl, point, and plié their way through a program ranging from Barber Violin Concerto excerpts to -- are we reading this right? -- "Hit the Road Jack." 7PM.

NOT SO FAST: You've heard of the Slow Food movement - but what about Slow Art? DUMBO's Galapagos hosts T-Minus 2008, the Time Art Festival (now in its fifth year) of short films and audio bits that manipulate speeds in crazy, mind-bending ways. 7PM.

TUNESMITH: There's some heavy, funky, '70s-reminiscent music on Alice Smith's debut disc For Lovers, Dreamers and Me. There's also her rich voice and witty songwriting, all of which makes for an evening at the Blue Note with this throwbacky R&B artist very appealing, indeed. 8 and 10:30PM.
