What You're Doing This Weekend, 1/24-25

Mos Def heats up the Blue Note, Chinese New Year blossoms in Brooklyn, and more happenings around town

BLOOM: The Brooklyn Botanic Garden holds its annual Lunar New Year Celebration and Flower Market, with demonstrations, tours, and gorgeous plants for sale. The city's botanical gardens are really feeling the money pinch, so this one's for a good cause. 10AM to 4:30PM.

ZOMG: ROFLcon has been bringing web nerds together since 1994, which - in internet years - is like nine centuries ago. Honestly, we didn't even know the acronym itself was that old. Anyhoo, there'll be enlightening talks about fonts and blogging and such, all at Santos Party House, all with booze. Saturday, 12PM to 6:45PM.

ALL HAIL: Do you need us to remind you why musical visionary Mos Def is awesome? Again? Just go see him bring it all jazzy-like at the Blue Note, already. He'll be highlighting material from his upcoming release The Ecstatic. Saturday and Sunday, 8PM and 10:30PM.

D.O.A.: Tracks from the Killers' new disc Day & Age make us want for it to be spring so we can throw open the windows and dance. Their show at Madison Square Garden with M83 should be a bit like that. Sunday, 7PM.

ROADSHOW LIVE: The Winter Antiques Show to benefit East House Settlement is the grande dame of NYC antiques bonanzas, featuring prime goods from antiquity to the very recent past. Even if you're not feeling spendy, the event - which is in its 55th year, and features 75 exhibitors - is a feast for the eyes. All weekend; times vary.

And still going:

STACKED: We think you can never really have enough Taschen books. The quirky, rule-bending art-book publisher is slashing prices at its SoHo store for a three-day sale, letting you scoop up sample copies of its excellent tomes for up to 75 percent off. All weekend; times vary.
