We're So There: Blondie + Pat Benatar + The Donnas

The tide is high at Coney Island this Thursday, when a triple threat of awesome docks at the Seaside Summer Concert series

By now, the phrase “girl power” – sometimes peppily spelled grrl power – is fairly worn from overuse (once it landed in the same sentence as Miley Cyrus, it was time for the obit). And yet, some situations really are all about ladies kicking ass and taking names.

Like, say, this week’s Seaside Summer Concert lineup at Coney Island: Blondie and Pat Benatar on their Call Me Invincible Tour, with warm-up from Cali neo-punksters The Donnas. That's a whole lot of musical talent and estro-fueled swagger on one stage. Sure, Deborah Harry’s last album of new material with the band dates to 2003, and Brooklyn’s own Benatar hasn’t released anything since that year either, but when “Love is a Battlefield” wafts out over the waves and you have a belly full of Nathan’s hot dogs, you won’t care one way or another.
