We're Going: Thomas Keller Talks “Ad Hoc at Home”

The food-world icon discusses his return to perfect comfort foods on Saturday

As tastebud-dazzling and sense-heightening as an evening at Thomas Keller’s restaurant Per Se may be, it’s not the kind of food that makes you want to sink into a cozy duvet or curl up before a fire.

Instead, that’s the effect you get from the family-style casual dishes at his Yountville, Calif., restaurant Ad Hoc, and from the bestselling (and frankly gorgeous to look at) cookbook it inspired, “Ad Hoc at Home” (Workman Publishing).

Keller comes to Cobble Hill’s BookCourt bookstore on Saturday to talk about some highlights from among the 200 recipes for American comfort foods he’s crowded into this rich tome, from grilled cheese sandwiches, cherry pies, pickled carrots and breakfast hash to only slightly more sophistiqué fare like leg of lamb and beef Stroganoff.
