The buzz around Nolita toward the end of 2008 was that the popular Mulberry boutique, Eva, would be closing its doors. Needless to say, the fans of its well-edited stock weren't too pleased.
Thankfully (and kind of amazingly, considering the current climate), the store isn't closing—it's relocating. Oh, and expanding.
Despite trying to stop by a little over a week ago and finding naked mannequins in the window (we were misinformed, apparently), the new-and-improved Eva is now open for business on the ever-so-popular-right-now stretch of Bowery (Oak, Blue & Cream, John Varvatos, etc.). The new location is 2,400 square feet and still hosts the same incredible array of hard-to-find designers like Vivienne Westwood Anglomania, Rodebjer, and Henrik Vibskov. Plus, according to DailyCandy, there's a photo exhibition opening party on the evening of March 8, and you can save 15 percent when you mention DailyCandy to the ladies behind the counter. Can SLVR, the new fashion-focused and affordable line, save the over-the-top-yet-completely-underwhelming scene that is Soho's shopping selection right now? The New York Times' Critical Shopper seems to think so. In fact, Mike Albo even goes so far as to describe the store as what the Apple store would look like it it sold clothing. Which, as everyone can probably agree, is high praise for a fashion-y sports label. Take a peek at the fashion-forward (yet, apparently, wallet-friendly!) apparel for yourself this weekend.
