Does your TiVO know to record anything remotely related to cooking? Have you made the trek to the Smithsonian to worship at Julia Child's pristinely preserved kitchen? This event's for you. The Culinary Historians of New York serve up (ha!) a discussion on the history of foodie TV with Kathleen Collins, author of Watching What We Eat: The Evolution of Television Cooking Shows. Collins will look at the personalities who turned cooking into entertainment, survey how the evolution of these shows prompted a similar arc in American cooking habits, and peer into the future of the filmed food demo in the web age. Meaty subjects, all.
