Tonight: Best Coast, Debbie Harry & Jazz Passengers, Music of Brel

  • LA’s surf-garage trio Best Coast plays two excellent venues back-to-back: Bowery Ballroom tonight (8PM), and Music Hall of Williamsburg on Thursday (9PM). All the better to catch vox slinger Bethany Cosentino tweeting from the stage (as her cat, Snacks).
  • Proving you can never say never, Debbie Harry revisited her mid-90s collaboration with the genre-bendy Jazz Passengers on their new disc (first n a dozen years), Reunited. So it stands to reason she’ll be vocalizing for them tonight in two sets at the Jazz Standard, 7:30PM; 9:30PM.
  • The songs of Jacques Brel have been covered by everyone from Frank Sinatra to Marc Almond to the Dresden Dolls, yet he doesn’t have the same household-name recognition as many other, lesser artists. Head to the Triad Theatre (UWS) tonight for Jacques Brel Returns…the Music of Brel, Blau, Shuman and Jouannest en Cabaret. Vocalists from the cabaret world and beyond swing by this biweekly affair to breathe new life into songs like Ne Me Quitte Pas. 8PM.
