Tribeca Film Festival Presents Halston, Vidal Sassoon Flicks

There's been so much fusion of fashion and film lately, and the Tribeca Film Festival will be no exception, with documentaries screening on the lives of Halston -- with an after-show fashion panel for AmEx holders -- and Vidal Sassoon

Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston brings together a mega-star cast to reminisce about the legendary (and first) celebrity designer.  Interviews with Angelica Huston, Liza Minelli, Andre Leon Talley, Diane Von Furstenberg, Billy Joel, Ralph Rucci and others reflect on Halston's '70s, characterized by jet-setting glamour kings and queens he dressed and partied with.  While everyone and their mother may seem to have licensing deals now, Halston was the actually the first one to do such a thing.  After the show, American Express holders (lucky dogs) may also attend a discussion with the film's director, Whitney Sudler-Smith, along with luminaries like Andre Leon Talley, Ralph Rucci and others, all moderated by Matt Tyrnauer, director of Valentino: The Last Emperor.

Not to be upstaged, Vidal Sassoon: The Movie, remembers the revolutionary hair stylist and the designs he pioneered in the 1960s.  Sassoon not only created the look of the era, but invented the idea of wash-and-wear hair styles that didn't require beauty salon styling maintenance.  He's got a charming personal success story as well, and the film includes interviews with Sassoon himself.
