Good news for fans of British fashion fashion retailer, Topshop: Mogul and Topshop owner Sir Philip Green has confirmed that the chain will expand next year, beginning with a Chicago door in late spring 2011.
The 30,000 square foot store -- slated for a a corner site adjacent to Michigan Avenue's Filene's Basement -- will proceed a second New York location outside of the original Soho outpost.
WWD reports that Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and uptown Manhattan stores are also on the agenda, though Green described current New York expansion negotiations as "torturous." (Flashback to 2009, when the store finally opened after a months-long delay due to construction issues and other typically-New York fare.)
As Green told WWD, "We've had 12 negotiations so far, and I'd just like to say I don't have 'stupid' written on my forehead. I'm not into ego trips. We are investors building a brand, and I need these stores to make money."
