The store has become home to a number of stunning homewares and quirky gifts like glass prisms from the Wild Unknown and Wendy's own terrariums.

The real lure, of course, is the clothes. "I love that it's a burnt orange, and linen rules in the summer," Wendy says of this cool cropped button-down ($125). "This last buy came from Minnesota, so they're extra special, I think."

A pair of summer-perfect cropped trousers in blue denim ($95) also topped Wendy's wishlist. "These are perfectly broken in," she says. "And the color is that great bright blue, and the elastic waist—you can't go wrong."

The Kangas sisters have a major talent for finding cool vintage handbags. "I love that the leather is a bit more firm so you can put as much stuff in there as possible," Wendy says of this smart leather mini-satchel ($85). "And that burnt red-brown color almost looks like a faux-wood effect."

"Erin's bar necklace is a little bit of a throwback to the '80s with the scrunchie detail at the bottom," Wendy laughs. "And the flesh-tone colors fit with everything." Best of all, because the woven segment of the necklace ($105) is knit around a gold chain, you won't stretch the material out.

A pair of vintage linen and leather sandals from Nine West ($95) feel exactly right for the summertime. "You could literally wear these around all summer long," says Wendy. "I love the combination of embossed leather, kind of an alligator, with the linen."

A pair of luxe suede kicks from Charles Jourdan ($125) are right in step with the season's mixed-up texture trend. "It has that southwestern feel to it with the metal," says Wendy. "But I love that they're navy blue suede and have a little bit of a heel. Just enough." Visit Duo at 337 East 9th Street or check them out online at www.duonyc.com
