Soho's Next “Big” Retailer: Nordstrom

Call it a boom destination: Soho has been a hotbed for a slew of new store openings of late. From Alexander Wang's downtown-chic wares, to the colorful Miami-inspired fashions we can bet on seeing at the Kardashian sisters' Dash outpost, there's been no shortage of retailers setting their sights on the area's open commercial spaces. A rather exciting addition to the mix—and some serious competition to nearby Bloomingdale'sNordstrom will be installing itself over two levels and 11,000 square feet of a newly-built building at 350 West Broadway (between Broome and Grand Streets) this fall, Crain's reports.

But wait! That's not the best part: earnings from this particular location, which has been announced as a "unique" concept store, will be donated to non-profit organizations (how's that for guilt-free shopping?).

Despite the opening of one of its off-price Nordstrom Rack stores in Union Square earlier this year, the retailer has yet to open a NYC-based flagship in these parts. Regardless, there's some bragging rights in the fact that the forthcoming concept-driven outpost on West Broadway will be the only one of its kind. No word yet on whether or not exclusive merchandise will fill the massive space.
