Season after season, Ashley and Mary Kate Olsen's super-luxe, minimalist creations for The Row seem to resist the trendy pull of whatever is happening in magazines or on the catwalk.

Once again, the ladies stayed true to their vision of luxe, no-fuss dressing for fall with clean silhouettes and a subdued palette. As Ashley Olsen told WWD after a cozy breakfast presentation at Bemelman's Bar, the aim was to keep the collection "intimate and as pretty and pure as possible."

The duo seems to have accomplished precisely that for fall, maybe with an even greater emphasis than usual on the "prettier" aspects on the line, like the metallic violet tweeds that shimmered on everything from asymmetrical motorcycle jackets to a more classic overcoat.

Each look was styled with a flat sandal made from satiny black ribbons, which gave the looks a feeling of approachability (even if the price tags are about as prohibitive as they come).

The Row's super-luxe handbag collection also factored into the presentation. Here, a taupe leather "fanny pack" style acted as a belt on a semi-sheer tunic dress.

In general, length was an important factor in the fall collection, from the elongated pencil skirts to tunics that hit mid-calf.

As with all of their collections, there was no shortage of the streamlined, super-tailored pieces that make fashion editors drool. Here, a collarless camel coat finished with tobacco leather piping.

Shiny textures and metallic flourishes injected a little bit of playfulness into the rigid, structured silhouettes.

Sumptuous leather outerwear has cropped up in almost every previous Row collection, and Fall '12 didn't disappoint with a buttery caramel option finished with a scarf-like neckline.

Some of the strongest pieces were, surprisingly, also their most experimental: a two-tone fur coat felt trim and sophisticated compared to some of the bulkier fur outerwear options we've seen for fall.
