Designer Roland Mouret Named Creative Director at Robert Clergerie

Iconic footwear and accessories label Robert Clergerie has announced that designer Roland Mouret will become its new creative director.

According to a press release, Mouret was chosen to collaborate with the brand as part of a development strategy following the acquisition of the footwear label by Fung Brands Limited and LVMH alum Jean-Marc Loubier in April.

Clergerie offered his blessing, saying that he was "delighted" to see Mouret at the helm of the house he founded. Loubier and Mouret echoed the good cheer, with Mouret making the following statement:

“To be the Creative Director of Robert Clergerie, is an incredible opportunity. For so many people it’s such an important brand and held in the highest affection, as is Robert Clergerie himself. This is a chance for me to work with a master on the art and craft of shoe design and to be part of the special relationship that women have with their shoes.”

The collaboration is just the latest accomplishment for Mouret, who recently regained control of his namesake brand with the backing of entertainment Simon Fuller, and opened his first retail location in London in February (and whose dress Kate Middleton wore to fly to Canada this past week).
