Retail Anticipation: Chelsea Market Anthropologie Brings in the Goods

Spring fever has spread to retail, with anxious New Yorkers monitoring the progress of the Anthropologie in the Chelsea Market for its April 16 opening.

Word on the street and in the blogosphere is that the new location will house mostly home furnishings, and it looks like that could be right. The boring brown papers has been pealed from the windows, allowing passersby a glimpse of merchandisers setting up stock.  Shophound scoped out the space, reporting that it looks ready to open despite the notice posted on the door warning that there's another two weeks to wait.

A focal staircase hints at more store below ground, which, of course, would be double the fun, especially if it were a bargain basement. Stay tuned for more blogger reconaissance as activity around the site increases.
