One of the most popular rising stars of Fashion Week, Gurung's lavish, Miss Havisham-inspired show attracted a veritable who's-who of front row darlings, from Anna Wintour to Emmanuelle Alt. Red was the central color theme of the evening, starting with this romantic, off-the-shoulder dress.

Unlike Gurung's previous, more ladylike collections, this show had a certain rawness to it -- an edge. Here, a red sheath gets a jagged treatment along the neckline.

The femininity in this red carpet-friendly maroon dress was tempered by a waist-cinching black leather belt.

Gurung was also rather liberal in his use of fur this season -- and indication, perhaps, that he's aiming for a more expensive market with his garments. The fur pieces had an edgy, playful bent, like this ombre red knit jacket.

Elsewhere in the collection, a gorilla-like black fur shrug topped a corseted dress with a feathered skirt that had a shredded appeal.

One of the most jaw-dropping pieces in the collection, worn by the model Karlie Kloss, was a strapless black gown featuring raven-like feathers at the bust and layers upon layers of shredded-looking black feathers at the skirt. Again, here, was a rawness and edge that marked a brave, captivating departure for the designer.

On the other side of the spectrum, Gurung used that same exquisite attention to detail on the palest of pink dresses, featuring floral and sequin embellishments. The dyed strips in the models' hair added a punk-y spin to the more elegant looks.
