Fashion is an integral component to USA Network's show "Suits," which has its second season kicking of June 14. "Suits" teamed up with luxury men's e-commerce site Mr Porter on a men's fashion show staged on the High Line last night.
Gabriel Macht who plays uber-successful lawyer Harvey Specter on "Suits" told us, "Pretty much all my character wears is Tom Ford. It’s sophisticated and powerful. The suits have got these incredible lines with romantic elements." Macht said his off-the-set style is a little different. "I take none of those aspects with me in my personal life—I wear linen pants and Birkenstocks," he said.
"I hope 'Suits' can do for guys what 'Sex and the City' did for women's fashion," Macht said.
Meghan Markle, who plays Rachel Zane on the show, told us fashion is just as important to the women characters. "Rachel’s style on the show is very polished," Markle said. "She’s into fashion. She loves hot new designers like Zac Posen. We created this silhouette for her which is this high-waisted pencil skirt, a sexy little sweater or blouse. In real life I am a bit more casual than that. I am a California girl so, so it's been fun to embrace this look that we have created for Rachel."
The Mr Porter Suits & Style show was set against a 60-foot LED backdrop. The fashions on display were chosen by the fashion team at Mr Porter including Editor-in-Chief Jeremy Langmead, Buying Director Toby Bateman, and Style Director Dan May.
There were a myriad of looks on the runway including cuffed jeans paired with cardigans and a puffer vest.
There were also luxe accessories on the runway including a green crocodile backpack and velvet slippers.
Of course suits were a key component to the show. Double-breasted suits, traditional grey suits and velvet tuxedos all hit the runway.
In addition to the runway show, a Suits & Style pop-up store is open at 72 Gansevoort Street until June 17. There is also a Suits & Style microsite featuring editorial content and offering men's style tips.
