Marilyn Monroe Brand Bought, She'll Front Dior Beauty in 2011

According to WWD, Authentic Brands LLC and NECA media and entertainment have bought the purchased the intellectual property rights to the Marily Monroe brand, and, as a result, aim to turn her into a global franchise --starting with the Christian Dior beauty campaign this year.

Even nearly 40 years after her untimely death, we're a generation still very familiar with the cult of Monroe's glamour: We're used to seeing her face on magazine covers and selling lingerie and wine, among other things. Authentic is banking on her enduring ability to sell products, reportedly paying a sum between $20-$30 million for the control over the brand.

In addition to the Dior campaign, possible ways in which Monroe could pop up include traditional licensing, photographic ads and computer-generated action spots for high fashion apparel, accessories, jewelry, beauty and fragrances. In the immediate future, WWD reports, are major deals for a health and beauty venture, and an apparel line incorporating sportswear and denim.
