Marc Jacobs Knighted in France

What did you do this weekend? Marc Jacobs got knighted in France, receiving the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) from Culture Minister Frédéric Mitterrand

One of many reasons we love the French is their commitment to fashion as a crucial part of the arts, and Jacobs is just the latest -- along with Sonia Rykiel creative director Nathalie Rykiel -- in an illustrious line of designers to be recognized for their contributions to fashion.  Of course, Jacobs contributes as artistic director at Louis Vuitton, among a few other things (like, oh, creating those mad-hot purple over-the-knee runway boots last fall). Félicitations!
